Classic Wide Leg Jeans

How can I adjust the size of the leg on my pants?

When I buy jeans I nearly always have the issue of the bottom of the leg being too wide. I like the classic boot cut style, but when it is so wide it just makes me look stout. Is there any way I can adjust this part of the pants myself?

-Completely unpick the stitching on the side of the leg.
-Place your jeans on and very carefully pin along the edge so it's the width you want to the leg to be.
-Take them off, careful not stab yourself on a pin
-Get your sewing machine* out and sew along where you've pinned it.
-Test for size

*If you don't have a sewing machine, you could hand sew it, but it won't be very strong.
